Mazbro n mbaksis, Datsun, the subsidiary brand of Nissan, already unveiled their new low segment cars, the Go series. And for the Go series, Nissan seems using the slogan of The three musketeers, All for one (goal) and one (platform) for all!!. Because Datsun have three different variants for one purpose:
make a low cost passenger cars but good in quality.
It all starts with the first variant, Datsun GO, which first premiered in India, the hatchback variant. Second was Indonesia, with Datsun GO+ Panca (launched last Thursday, 8/05) with the longer wheelbase, an MPV variant, like Nissan’s MPV Grand Livina, and the last of the bunch is the Datsun on GO sedan, which premiered in Rusia.
Why Datsun made three different variants, rather than just one?
In my opinion, because the R&D of Datsun already has a research which resulted a conclusion that each region in the world, which Datsun market interested to enter, has their own favourite variant of passenger car.
Like India, the majority of Indians like the hatchback variant, rather than sedan or MPV. Sedan variant is favourite in Rusia, and estate or MPV variant is the best selling model in Indonesia, because Indonesian loves to travel with their families.
That’s the main reason why each country becoming the base of each models production. And in the case of thr Datsun GO+ Panca with the 100 million (plus) rupiahs pricelist, Datsun GO+ Panca is already on my list of car I want to buy. Not only because the pricelist, but also for its ability to travel with more people and more luggage than the other two models.
Although it is still possible to launch the hatchback and the sedan variant in Indonesia, depends on the Datsun R&
D decision, but still estate or MPV variant is the top priority, the same situation in India or Rusia. So Indonesian will have more choices of low cost cars, rather than hatchback model that already launch by Toyota, Daihatsu, Honda and Suzuki.
